Theo and Merlin Ursa aimed their trajectory toward a career in professional automotive coatings after they made a serendipitous purchase: a new-to-them 2011 Mk 6 GTI (“The Mean Bean”), just as the Covid-19 pandemic lock down was about to go into effect. Their car acted as an extension of their living room, helping them to keep sane during those isolating months. Cleaning the car inside-and-out became a weekly ritual that they each enjoyed. When Merlin's day job was permanently nixed because of pandemic constraints, the Ursas began offering friends and family interior and exterior detailing services in order to make ends meet.

Word quickly spread of our high quality service and soon we were mobile detailing at the homes of friends-of-friends and beyond!

When Theo asked Merlin if she'd like to start a full time auto detailing service from their home, she was nervous; Their driveway abuts a wetland that Merlin has acted as steward for (removing trash and invasive plants) since they moved in several years ago. Merlin was afraid that the chemical run-off would negatively impact the wildlife and water quality of the wetland. Theo was determined to find a solution and began a deep dive into researching professional detailing products. With Merlin's expert guidance, they hand picked products that would have minimal environmental impact without sacrificing the quality of results we demand. Additionally, Theo and Merlin hand mix their chemicals, formulating them for your vehicle's specific needs, further reducing chemical run-off & environmental impact. In order to further reduce the ecological impact, the next logical step was to reduce the frequency that the car needs to be cleaned at all, thus: our passion for lifetime auto coatings bloomed.

Merlin (they/she) holds a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with a concentration in Environmental Science and a minor in Chemistry from Salem State University. Their training and hands-on experience in chemical handling & safety, knowledge of environmental issues & regulations, and deep love for Eastern Massachusetts’ vital habitats translates into a sustainable and eco-conscious business. Merlin grew up in a family of car enthusiasts, with 5 uncles and 3 cousins that all work in the automotive industry. Her love of cars extends to her enjoyment of racing games, such as Need for Speed, Gran Turismo, and the Cruisin' franchise. As a child, Merlin could often be seen at the weekly auto meet up at Fuddrucker's in Saugus (her hometown!), at the annual car show in Boston, or scoping out exotics and luxury cars while away on vacation with her family. Unexpectedly, Merlin has never held a driver's license, proving that you don't have to be a driver to love cars!

Theo (he/him) is a life-long car enthusiast, beginning at the age of 3 with an obsession for his dad’s car: a pristine crimson red Gen 2 Honda CRX SI (“Daddycar”). He began working on cars when he bought his first: a retired State Police Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (“El Troopah-Cop-rah”). Theo began his detailing journey in 2015 detailing boats in his hometown of Marblehead, MA. However, he did not find his passion until he fell headfirst into the autocare industry. An unabashed knowledge seeker, Theo has poured all of his focus into learning the ins and outs of ceramic coatings. Theo enjoys driving for pleasure, and is happy to be alive to witness and experience the shift from gas-powered ("dinosaur juice") vehicles to electric vehicles and enjoy all the ever-evolving auto coating industry has to offer. 

When not paint correcting and applying ceramic coatings, Theo and Merlin can be seen driving for pleasure across the Northshore of Boston, playing co-op games at the arcade, or enjoying a cannabis treat while bird watching at one of Eastern Massachusetts beautiful natural spaces. They recently celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary and intend to continue working together in wedded bliss until they are ready to retire.
